Fool Me Once, Shame on You. Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me.

Well I've been stewing in a pot of disbelief for a while now, so I guess it's time to let it boil over. I haven't written a "pissed off" post in over 2 years. (That's pretty good actually, this states the fact the MOST people are good,honest human beings)

I'm not sure who I'm more pissed off with...ME or the rotten B$%#H that pulled the buttercream over my eyes. ughhhh............... probably me.

This is how the story goes......................"LADY" calls up and orders 50 custom decorated cupcakes for a bridal shower,(keep in mind this is a returning customer...matter of fact she is a waitress at a restaurant that me and my husband frequent) I work with her budget and I make her 50 beautiful cupcakes.
Morning of pick up I get a phone call from the LADY....."Johnnie my car was broken into last night and my purse was stolen!" she says with sobbing in the background..(of course) "they stole my purse and the fixing's for the punch I'm serving."...... OK OK I believe her, because who steals punch for goodness sakes!!

LADY - " I worked a double shift yesterday to pay for this party, and now it's all gone." more sobbing.....
LADY- " Who ever broke into my car has no idea how this kind of stuff effects us HARD WORKING people" more sobbing..........

Now this lady has me hook line and sinker....why? Because I used to wait tables back in the day and I pulled MANY double-shifts to make ends meat.......so YES... I GET IT!!!! I know what it's like to put up with people's crap for a buck.

LADY- "I don't have the money to pay you, but I could pay you on Monday after I work Sunday" sobbing....
ME-"Ok no problem, I'm sorry this happened to you , stop in on Wednesday and you can pay me"
LADY- "Are you sure, thank you, God Bless You, I PROMISE I will be in to pay you and I will take good care of your cupcake stand"

(Oh yeah.. I let her borrow my very fancy cupcake stand)

Well a week passed.....nothing........then I remembered the stand, so after leaving countless messages she called me back and said "I 've been so busy at work, I'm not ignoring you, I will send my daughter in with the stand and the money"

Daughter brings in the stand....proceeds to tell how everyone LOVED the cupcakes and my mom will be in tomorrow with the money.
PRAHAHAHAHAHA I'm such an IDIOT!!!!
it's been over 6 weeks ago.........................

I'm not even sure what the moral of this story is...........that I'm a sucker.....some people suck......or maybe some people have such a HUGE set of balls that I'm not even sure how they drag them around!!!!

OK I really didn't, but there was A LOT of LABOR involved!!! Meet JIMMY, a middle-aged parrot wearing a Georgia Bulldog's jersey. I'm pretty much in LOVE with him...... O' how I hated to see him go.

I'm not sure how someone could fall in love with cake, but this cake has personality,charm,a good sense of humor....even good looks!!! (I think I just described my husband ;o)

Any-Who I'm gonna show ya'll the 4 stages of my Sweet Jimmy.........

This is Jimmy when he was.......well a lump of cake, super yummy lump of chocolate pound cake and chocolate ganache....

What is this???? a mummy,an urn.....poo maybe? No silly its Jimmy!! He is starting to take shape....what kind of shape? well it was still a mystery to me at this point!

There he is!!! Wait a minute.............. he looks like a ghost! hmmmmmm He needs a little color, a little personality maybe?

TA-DAH!! Jimmy the Parrot......he has attitude, a little cocky even.. every pun intended!!

Now..........can you see why I love him????

Jimmy stats: chocolate pound cake w/chocolate ganach filling,chocolate buttercream frosting and rice crispies.

1 hour to carve (me) along w/ my sidekick Sharlene... making me piss my pants w/her funny ass self

Our Open House was HUGE success!! YAY!! I Love cake and apparently alot of other people do too. I want to thank everyone that came out and waited in the long line to get their CaKe ON!!

What does a drunk a lizard an ER nurse have in common?

YES! YES! YES! I got a request for the COOLEST cake EVER!!!!!!
But before you meet Guido, let's have a history lesson first....................................

Once upon a time (oh, say around 20 years ago), there was a drunk driver traveling north on US1 through the historic district of Titusville. Something happened on their drunkin’ journey, something that made them crash their vehicle through a partial cinderblock wall, through the hedge on the other side and come to a halt in the parking lot of the ‘ever-so-lovely’ (you can even rent–by-the-hour) downtown Budget motel. Perhaps the driver dropped a cigarette, perhaps he over shot the turn onto south street or perhaps he fell asleep at the wheel……regardless, this story isn’t about them-----it’s about a lizard. You see, when the drunk was flung out of their vehicle (either stumbling out or rolling out the opened door) they landed in an arena of crumbled concrete, twigs, leaves and dirt. Unable to flee the scene (much less walk), he laid there until help arrived. When the fire department arrived, they did the usual------assess the scene, assess the patient, prepare for transport: things like a neck brace, bandages on the bloody head wounds, oxygen and so on. Strapped to a backboard, the patient was taken, less than 5 miles away, to Jess Parrish Hospital. In the ER, the trauma patient was again, assessed, but this time by a full Emergency Room crew-----ER doctor, ER nurses, X-ray, Lab and Cardio departments. After the initial assessment and assuring that no major life threatening situations were at hand, the ER crowd slowly dissipated and the patient was left in the care of his very able nurse, Barbara. Barbara’s duties were to clean his wounds and monitor the patient----and, yes, she was, now, all alone. After all, nothing very interesting here-----another drunk driver, cut up, scrapped up and sloppy drunk, darn lucky to be alive----the rest of the team was finished. So, there she was, trying to talk to someone who couldn’t enunciate very well and often, dozed off (or shall we say, passed out) into moments of------well, sweet silence. Anyway, she removed the blood soaked, filthy dressing off his head and was attempting to clean up the matted black mess of blood and dirt from his head wound----------when, unannounced and quite, suddenly, a lizard jumped out of the patient’s huge head laceration (better known as an avulsion to those of you who understand that term) and onto Barbara. Can you say “Blood Curdling Scream”? I was a short distance away in the EMS Room (a room assigned to the fire department to write up our reports) when I heard that scream. Everyone, from everywhere (even other departments) came running to find out what caused that ‘horror-movie-type-scream’-----------was someone in the ER being assaulted?!? Why, yes, as a matter of fact, they were-------it was Barbara, being assaulted by a lizard! Real life. True story. And, that, my friend, should explain this FABULOUS and FUN CAKE for Barbara’s retirement for 26 WONDERFUL years of EMERGENCY ROOM NURSING!!!!!! Watch out for the lizards, Barbara!

I don't care if I never get back......la..la..la..la...............OK OK ,I'll just bring on the cake!

I was lucky enough to make Peter's Bar Mitzvah cake, and he had a SUPER COOL themed event; "Old School Boardwalk and Baseball" and I was pretty much allowed to do whatever I wanted! YEAH!! I'm doin' the little dance!! WHOT! WHOT!! So this is what I came up with.......

This cake was a DOOZEY................over 2 feet high of cake and rice crispie treats! (I LOVE Rice Crispies they are my BFF) Everything is cake except the ball cap and hot dog (R/C)

The fun part about the whole cake was "delivery" UGGGGGG....... I deliver all my cakes assembled, and this event was about an hour away. So I recruited my "Super Sweet Hubby" for the job!! I would first like to say, that my hubby is a GREAT sport..............now that I've pointed that out....I would also like to say.......the man was trying to give me a "nervous breakdown"!!!

We get the cake in the SUV start to head down the road and he kept looking back at it.....

"It's moving...O GOD that can't be good!" so I tell him to STOP looking at it.........

" But what if something happens to it.....What are you going to do?!?".............

"STOP looking at it Shawn, it will be fine"................."But what if....",

"Stop looking at the DAMN CAKE!!!!, if the cake falls there is nothing I can do.....I don't have a backup at the shop!!!, STOP freaking me out and just drive......drive DAMN IT, DRIVE!!!!!!"

Well ..the cake made it in ONE piece...PERFECT!!!!! YES PERFECT!!! (I had a bit of a "stress" headache thou..............O'Well)

So here's the question..........What would I do if the cake fell?..................CRY.....then EAT IT!!

Birthday cakes with roses or maybe balloons and confetti are all fine and dandy, but are seriously BORING to do!! So when the phone rings and someone wants a "Kidney with kidney stones" my heart skips a beat. All of a sudden I catch myself doing a "little dance" as if I just scored the winning touchdown!! YES!!

So here is my kidney... for poor B.J. who is apparently trying to pass a stone himself. OUCH!!

I have this great opportunity to make some fabulous creations for people....there is LOVE, SWEAT and TEARS..............(yes "tears" in this case) that goes into each and every cake. So when a cake that I have slaved over for hours goes out the door, I expect it to be treated like a baby until you devour it! So when this cake was brought back to me 2 1/2 hours later.........I seriously wanted to throw up!!!!!!!! When the nausea passed, I had two options..1: remake the cake, because that's the kind of girl I am. or 2: throw it at the client, because that's the girl I want to be!!!
I opted for option 1....................so the moral of this story is please,PLEASE, do not leave your baby in the car on a HOT summer FLORIDA day.........because heat KiLLs!!!!!!! or in this case butter MeLTs..............
